Sexual health research peptides
Melanocortin agonists and the upstream hormones of the reproductive axis — the seven compounds Amino Club supplies for gonadotropic and melanocortin research.
Two ends of the same axis
Sexual health research peptides in this catalogue divide cleanly into central melanocortin signalling and the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis itself.
On the melanocortin side, PT-141 is a cyclic heptapeptide and a metabolite of Melanotan II, studied for MC4R-mediated central signalling rather than for any peripheral vascular mechanism. That distinction is the whole point of the compound and is what separates it from the pigmentation-focused melanocortins in the skin and cosmetic group. It is also supplied as a metered intranasal preparation.
The axis compounds run upstream to downstream. Kisspeptin sits at the top, governing GnRH pulse generation. Gonadorelin is synthetic GnRH itself, acting at the pituitary. HCG acts as an LH analogue at the gonadal receptor, and HMG supplies combined FSH and LH activity. Oxytocin is studied separately for its role in social and reproductive behaviour.
Why the level of the axis matters
A study that intervenes at the kisspeptin level is asking a different question from one that intervenes at the gonadal receptor, even where the measured endpoint looks similar. Upstream compounds act through an intact feedback loop and their effects are pulsatile and self-limiting; downstream analogues bypass that regulation entirely. Reading results from one level as though they applied at another is the most common interpretive error in this area.
Unit conventions differ here too: HCG and HMG are specified in international units rather than by mass, because their activity is defined biologically rather than gravimetrically. Current strengths are on the sexual health category page.
Purity, presentation and handling
Each compound is specified at 99% purity or better by HPLC with mass spectrometric identity confirmation, and released against the Certificate of Analysis for its own batch; the certificate carries the batch number printed on the vial. The release process is on the lab testing page.
The glycoprotein hormones in this group are structurally far larger and more fragile than the peptides beside them, and tolerate freeze-thaw cycling poorly. Handling notes sit on each product page rather than as one instruction. Reconstitution consumables are under lab supplies.
Compound guides in this group
Individual guides to the compounds in this group, which between them cover every level of the reproductive axis.
- Kisspeptin — the peptide above GnRH, found through a genetics result.
- Gonadorelin — synthetic GnRH, whose effect reverses between pulses and plateau.
- HCG — a long-acting LH receptor agonist.
- HMG — both gonadotropin arms in one vial.
- PT-141 — a melanocortin agonist acting centrally.
- Oxytocin — nine residues and two fields of literature.
