Cognitive and sleep research peptides
Neuromodulatory and sleep-regulating sequences — the nine preparations Amino Club supplies for neuropeptide research, most available as both lyophilised vials and metered intranasal bottles.
What this group covers
Cognitive and sleep research peptides are studied for their action on neuromodulatory systems rather than as direct receptor agonists in the way most of the catalogue is. Several are regulatory peptides derived from endogenous sequences, and their research profiles are correspondingly subtle.
Semax is a synthetic analogue of an ACTH(4-10) fragment, stripped of corticotropic activity and studied for effects on BDNF expression and on the noradrenergic system. Selank is derived from the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin and is investigated in the context of GABAergic and anxiolytic signalling. They are frequently confused because both came out of the same Russian research programme and are often studied together, but they act on different systems — the Semax versus Selank comparison sets out where.
DSIP, delta sleep-inducing peptide, is a nonapeptide isolated from cerebral venous blood and studied for slow-wave sleep architecture. Dihexa is an angiotensin IV analogue investigated for hepatocyte growth factor signalling and synaptogenesis, and is structurally unrelated to the rest of the group.
Adamax and Adalank are combination intranasal preparations built on this family.
Vials and intranasal preparations
This is the group where the intranasal presentation matters most. Semax, Selank and DSIP are each supplied both as lyophilised vials and as 15ml to 25ml metered intranasal bottles — Semax, Selank and DSIP — because the intranasal route is how most of the published work on these sequences was carried out. Adamax and Adalank are supplied in that format only.
The metered bottles require no reconstitution, which removes one source of variability from a study design but fixes the concentration at what is supplied. Which presentation suits a given protocol is a design decision rather than a convenience one. Current strengths are on the cognitive and sleep category page.
Purity, presentation and handling
Each preparation is specified at 99% purity or better by HPLC with identity confirmed by mass spectrometry, and released against the Certificate of Analysis for its own batch, whose number matches the vial or bottle label. The lab testing page documents the process.
Short neuropeptides are among the more adsorption-prone sequences in the catalogue, and losses to container surfaces at low working concentrations are a real source of error in this group rather than a theoretical one. Per-compound handling notes sit on the individual product pages. Reconstitution consumables are listed under lab supplies.
Compound guides in this group
Individual guides to the compounds in this group.
- Semax — an ACTH fragment with the hormonal activity removed.
- Selank — anxiolytic activity without binding the benzodiazepine site.
- DSIP — named for an effect later work struggled to reproduce.
- Dihexa — a lipidised dipeptide, and an honest reading of a thin evidence base.
- VIP — the other circadian peptide here, with identified receptors.
