About Selank
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide: the tetrapeptide tuftsin with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. Tuftsin is derived from the Fc region of immunoglobulin G and is itself an immunomodulatory peptide, which gives Selank a lineage entirely separate from Semax despite the shared stabilising tail and shared research programme.
That origin is the reason it retains a documented immunomodulatory strand alongside its central effects — something Semax does not have.
What the research covers
Work covers GABAergic signalling and anxiolytic endpoints, with interest focused on producing anxiolysis without the sedation and dependence characteristic of classical GABA-A agents. Serotonergic involvement and effects on monoamine turnover appear as secondary strands.
The immune arm covers interleukin expression and immunoglobulin-related signalling, which is where the tuftsin heritage shows. Handling Selank
Supplied lyophilised. As with Semax, the Pro-Gly-Pro tail protects against enzymatic degradation but not against adsorption, and at the low concentrations typical of behavioural and cell work the latter is the larger practical loss.
